Valle Architetti Associati

Studio Valle Architetti Associati works in the fields of architectural and urban design with offices in Udine and Milan.

The methods that guide the architectural practice of Studio Valle Architetti Associati are four:

Uno

A continuous questioning of the relationship between building and place with the development of design solutions that promote a dialogue between new structures and existing space.

2

A vision of the interaction between individual buildings and urban systems that ensures that large-scale design is always implemented through specific architectural pieces intended as “city parts”.

3

An experimental functionalism that continually questions the acquired patterns through research based on the use of the plan and section as matrices of the building.

4

A research on construction based on the use of different technologies and tectonic approaches, often implemented with industrialized techniques, without falling in love with material preciousness or with an artisanal dimension that is now impossible in the contemporary world.

History

In the early 1950s, Gino and Nani Valle joined Studio Architetti Valle in Udine, continuing the work of their father Provino, which had begun in the 1920s.

In 1959, Nani Valle left the studio and in 1961 Piera Valle Ricci Menichetti joined, first as a partner and, from 1980, as an associate member. Under Gino Valle’s guidance, the studio achieved several international successes in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s with increasingly important projects and achievements.

In 1989, the studio took on its current name of Studio Valle Architetti Associati and in 1990 Pietro Valle began working there. After Gino Valle’s death in 2003, Pietro Valle and Piera Valle Ricci Menichetti, as associate members, continued the work of the studio together with the collaborators who had worked there in previous years.

In 2022 Piera Ricci Menichetti left the studio and Mario Gallinaro, the structural designer who has followed the studio’s projects for more than 25 years, joined as a new associate.
